FATHER'S DAY!
June 17this Father’s Day and while it could be argued that Father’s Day tends to take a back seat to Mother’s Day in our culture, I have to admit I’ve always been a “daddy’s girl”.

Some of my fondest memories are of long road trips where I somehow wound up sitting up front, keeping dad company as he drove. We talked for hours about almost everything, with the purpose keeping him awake and alert while he was behind the wheel, but in those talks we got to know each other better and develop a deeper understanding of what made each of us tick.

For him, what made him tick was his love for his family; “his girls” as he referred to mom and his three daughters. He was a sweet, gentle, loving soul who doted on us and we all had him wrapped around our little fingers. I miss him every day but more so on Father’s Day.

For those of you who still have your dads with you, I encourage you to take every opportunity to let him know how much you love him and how much you appreciate his presence in your life.

Summer is Here! (and Beach Season too!)
Well, we can no longer pretend that it’s Spring in Southwest Florida. In spite of the recent smattering of cool early mornings and breezy, pleasant evenings, there’s no denying that June brings the type of weather our area is best known for; hot summer beach weather!

Fortunately, Southwest Florida boasts some of the most beautiful beaches in the nation. Whether you enjoy sunbathing, shelling or just people-watching our beaches offer a bit of everything to suit anybody's tastes.

And to prove my point, just take a look at some of our more popular beach spots where refreshing breezes blow in from the Gulf, the sand is littered with beautiful shells and the waters are calm and warm enough to allow for hours of peaceful soaking.

When you're up for some time on the beach, do check out some of my favorites!

Fixed Rate Mortgages Hit Record Lows!If there was ever a time to sign a mortgage it is certainly NOW!

Near the end of May of this year the average rate for 30-year fixed mortgages fell to record low levels for a fourth straight week. On May 18thFreddie Mac announced that the rate on 30 year loans had dropped one point from the previous week to 3.78% (the lowest rate since the 1950’s!) and the average rate on 15-year fixed mortgages has held steady at 3.04%.

These lower rates are a one of the reasons the housing industry is showing signs of a recovery, five years after the “bubble burst”. Last April, sales of both previously occupied homes and new homes rose record high levels since the previous two years. Builders are becoming more confident of an improving market, breaking ground on new construction and applying for more permits to build single-family homes scheduled to break ground for later this year.

An improving job market has also been a significant factor in generating new prospective buyers. Over 1 million new job openings have been created in the past five months and the unemployment rate has dropped a full percentage point since August of last year. Still, many prospective homebuyers are facing difficulty in qualifying for home loans or can’t afford the larger down payments required by banks nowadays. And still, other would-be homebuyers are waiting to see if home prices and mortgage rates will continue to fall. Any way you look at it, the fact remains that there’s an excellent opportunity NOW to get really, really good financing on your home purchase. If you'd like to learn more about getting in on these great rates, just give mme a call. I'd be happy to connect you with some of the best mortgage professionals working in our area!
